MLAG connection between different domain of MLAG

Hello,

While studying the Dell power connect manual

http://downloads.dell.com/manuals/common/powerconnect_nx00-usingmlag-whtppr_en-us.pdf

Figure 2 at page 7.

The figure showing the one MLAG domain (2 switch which peerlink together) can be talking to another switch by MLAG.

Question

Under Cumulus environment.  Does it support connect 2 MLAG domain by MLAG?

(switch 1 <-peerlink -> switch 2)  <---MLAG ---->  (switch 3 <---peerlink ----> switch 4)

or I need connecting them between by traditional LACP only?

Thanks!

The whole point of these MLAG techniques is to obfuscate that anything funny is happening at all.

An MLAG-capable switch pair should appear to its neighbors as a single device.

There shouldn't be any problem with two independent MLAG pairs each conspiring to deceive their neighbors.

That's exactly correct Chris. Doing MLAG between two MLAG switch pairs works just fine. We recommend that you cable it up so that each physical switch of an MLAG pair has at least one connection to each physical switch in the other pair. That way, even if one physical switch fails, the remaining three switches still have full connectivity.
